Support groups are a way to connect with others who have experienced similar losses. Groups at Kelly's Grief Center are led by mental health professionals and are available to adults, adolescents, and children. They are structured, closed groups that run for 8–10 weeks. The curriculum is tailored to each type of loss. Each week covers a topic related to grief, coping, and healing, blending education, activities, coping strategies, and discussion.
Groups need at least six participants and no more than 10. A minimum of 3 months must have passed since the loss. The day of the week is often chosen around when the people who register can attend. Groups have been scheduled from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.
Call the office for the current schedule and cost. Financial assistance is available through the Kelly Reeves Memorial Foundation. No one will be denied services for the inability to pay.
10-week groups, when offered: Accidental Overdose Loss, Suicide Loss, and Murder Loss.
8-week groups, when offered: General Loss (including the loss of a spouse, parent, adult child, sibling, or grandparent) and Perinatal & Infant Loss.
