Emma is passionate about working with children, adolescents, and adults who are experiencing the various challenges related to grief and loss, trauma, and other mental health concerns. She strives to create a safe and supportive space where each client can express themselves, process their experiences, gain insight into their thoughts and feelings and work to develop skills that can lead to growth and healing.

Emma understands that each client has their own unique experience and needs. As such, she utilizes a trauma-informed approach, while incorporating a variety of different treatment modalities, in order to meet each client where they are at in their journey and to best address their specific needs. Emma also recognizes that it may feel scary or intimidating to step outside of one's comfort zone in order to ask for help. Because of this, Emma approaches the therapeutic relationship from a warm, empathetic, nonjudgmental, and understanding viewpoint.

Alexandra (Ali) Sommer, LPCC

I am committed to supporting individuals, groups, clients of all ages, and members of the LGBTQ+ community as they navigate the challenges of grief, trauma, neurodivergence, and other mental health concerns. My approach is rooted in meeting clients where they are and helping them move toward the life they envision. My primary clinical focuses include grief, trauma, and neurodivergence, and I also have experience and training in addressing sexual concerns, identity exploration, and relationship issues. I work with a broad range of concerns, including depression, anxiety, ADHD, and Autism Spectrum Disorder.

As a Certified Autism Spectrum Disorder Clinical Specialist (ASDCS), I have a deep appreciation for how neurodivergence shapes our experiences. I am also kink-informed and LGBTQIA+ affirming, and I approach therapy from a neuroscience-informed lens that values both emotional and physiological healing. I am continually open to expanding my knowledge and skill set to meet the evolving needs of my clients.

My ideal client is someone who is curious about the patterns in their life and ready to do the work of healing—someone seeking to understand their past, navigate the present, and build a more intentional future. I understand how difficult it can feel to be “stuck,” and I work collaboratively to help clients find the strength, clarity, and tools they need to move forward.

My counseling style is collaborative, nonjudgmental, and empathetic. I integrate person-centered therapy, cognitive-behavioral therapy, narrative techniques, and mindfulness-based approaches to create a tailored and eclectic therapeutic experience. I am also trained in Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), an evidence-based modality for treating trauma.

I hold a bachelor's degree in psychology and an M.Ed. in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Kent State University. I am a proud member of the American Counseling Association (ACA).

Guess what my top priority is? To create a safe and compassionate space for YOU to show up as your authentic self! Through years of experience and personal practice, I have learned that you are more likely to do that if I too am being my authentic self.

With over three decades of professional work in long-term care, hospice, and outpatient oncology, I have supported individuals through challenging transitions, including grief and loss, chronic illness, and terminal illness.

As a caregiver, I understand the tendency to focus on others at the expense of our own health and wellbeing. By embracing self-compassion, mindfulness, and cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), I have learned to balance caring for others with caring for myself as well.

I hold a bachelor's degree in Therapeutic Recreation from Kent State University, which helps me honor the whole person with innovative, evidence-based interventions. My master's degree from Case Western Reserve University has equipped me to work as a social worker who comprehends the complex systems that influence our lives.

As a social worker and human, I am committed to social justice. I believe that Black Lives Matter and am a dedicated ally to the LGBTQIA+ community. My approach is client-centered and strengths-based.

Healing and growing isn't easy work. You are not alone. Acknowledging YOU for taking steps to take care of your whole self.
